THE EDIT: SUSTAINING TENSION IN A SINGLE ROOM
Narrative Friction Inside Four Walls
Adapted from the stage play by Simon Parker, Baggage Claim takes place entirely inside a single apartment across an 80-minute runtime.
With no cutaways, no secondary locations, and zero pickup days, the edit suite was where the suspense had to be built. Every single cut was timed to performance micro-beats and the shifting spatial power dynamics between the three characters.
The Hybrid NLE Workflow
To handle the relentless 5-day on-set shooting schedule, ingestion and preliminary assemblies were organized in Final Cut Pro using metadata-driven Smart Collections.
Once picture locked, the project migrated seamlessly via FCPXML into DaVinci Resolve for node-based Fusion VFX screen replacements, Skye Barrow's grade conform, and final 4K mastering.
